GODIVA®

For the first time ever, the creative genius behind Godiva's world-renowned chocolates unveiled the artistry and craftsmanship behind his iconic creations, delighting billions of chocolate lovers worldwide.

The Power This Film Needed:

Make invisible mastery visible.

A finished GODIVA chocolate appears effortless. Its surface is polished. Its shape is exact. Its flavor feels complete.

What audiences rarely see is everything required to reach that final moment: the years of knowledge, the scientific precision, the constant tasting, the instinctive adjustments, and the hands of the chocolatier behind it.

Our task was not simply to document how a chocolate was made. It was to reveal the intelligence, heritage, and creative discipline contained inside every piece.

about the project

01

overview

L.I. Productions partnered with GODIVA’s creative and marketing teams to create a documentary-style commercial centered on Executive Chef Chocolatier Thierry Muret. Following Chef Muret from his first explanation through the complete making process, we captured his voice, his methods, and the small decisions that transform raw ingredients into one of GODIVA’s signature chocolates.

The project became more than a demonstration of technique. It became a portrait of the person carrying GODIVA’s chocolate-making tradition forward. Alongside the principal film, we helped GODIVA translate the production into a broader collection of social media content, including custom openings, logo treatments, visual effects, supporting shots, and platform-ready posts.

The Opportunity

Chef Muret had spent decades creating and developing chocolates for GODIVA. He had also appeared in numerous television and media productions throughout his career. Yet after watching our film, he told us that previous coverage had never captured the beauty and essence of the chocolate-making process in the same way.

That response defined the true opportunity behind the project. The story was not missing because Chef Muret had never been filmed. It was missing because the camera had rarely stayed close enough to understand what his work meant.

We saw an opportunity to move beyond the familiar image of a chef speaking beside a finished product. Instead, we could reveal how thought becomes flavor, how precision becomes beauty, and how one chocolatier’s hands carry the character of an entire brand.

the creative principle

02

Let the making reveal the maker

We did not approach the film as a conventional corporate interview or recipe demonstration. Chef Muret’s own voice guides the story, but the film’s meaning comes through observation: the way he handles ingredients, studies texture, controls temperature, tests each stage, and responds to the chocolate as it changes. Every action reveals something about him. His scientific knowledge appears through precision. His experience appears through instinct. His creativity appears through the final composition. By allowing the process to unfold naturally, the film connects Chef Muret’s personal craft directly to the standards associated with GODIVA.

Chef Muret has been 'the' center of the brand, allowing audiences to understand Godiva through the person responsible for shaping many of its creations.

building the power

03

Turning Process Into Cinema

Chocolate-making contains extraordinary visual detail, but that detail can easily disappear when filmed only as instruction. We treated the process as a cinematic performance. The camera followed the movement of Chef Muret’s hands, the changing surfaces of the ingredients, the controlled repetition of each action, and the gradual emergence of the finished chocolate. Close observation transformed a technical process into something sensory, intimate, and precise. The audience does not simply learn how the chocolate is made. They begin to feel why the process matters.

Finding Beauty in Precision

Luxury does not come only from the finished product. It comes from the control exercised at every stage before completion. Our cinematography focused on the evidence of that control: texture, temperature, motion, timing, proportion, and touch. These details allowed the film to communicate GODIVA’s standards without relying on overt promotional language. The craft itself became the proof.

Working as One Creative Team

We worked closely with GODIVA’s creative team and marketing supervisor throughout the project, connecting the cinematic direction of the film with the brand’s communication needs. That collaboration allowed us to preserve the honesty of the documentary approach while ensuring the finished work remained distinctly GODIVA. The result was a film that felt personal without losing brand authority, and polished without losing the reality of the process.

extending the power

04

From One Film to a Social Content System

The principal film gave GODIVA a complete visual story about Chef Muret and his craft. We then helped the team carry that story into social media.

We created and supported:

  • Social media edits and shorter content pieces
  • Custom GODIVA openings and logo treatments
  • Motion effects and branded visual elements
  • Additional shots designed specifically for social use
  • Platform-ready posts built from the central production

Instead of treating social media as a collection of disconnected promotional clips, we used the main film as the creative source for a wider content system. The same visual quality, human story, and sense of craftsmanship remained present across every format.

what the work made possible

05

The project gave GODIVA more than footage of a chef making chocolate. It created a lasting visual record of Thierry Muret’s craft, knowledge, and importance to the brand.

For Chef Muret, the film captured a quality he felt had been missed by previous productions: the beauty and soul contained within the making process.

For GODIVA, it provided a strong branded film and a flexible body of social content that could carry the story beyond a single release.

For the audience, it transformed a familiar luxury product into something more meaningful. A chocolate became the final expression of a person, a tradition, and decades of accumulated mastery.
